Manaslu Region

Manaslu RegionManaslu (8163m), Known as Kutang to Gorkah Himal is the eighth highest mountain of the world, located in the Mansiri Himal range. The word ‘Manasli comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Manasa’ which means “Mountain of the spirit”. The Manaslu Himal region lies in between Buri Gandaki and Marshyandi River in Gorkha district, widely known as the home to the celebrated Gorkha soldiers. Trek to this region was officially opened to tourist in 1991 although the mountaineering expedition had long before access to this area. Trekked by comparatively few numbers of trekkers, the virgin beauty of Manaslu region is full of biological diversity. Unsurpassed Mountain View of Ganesh Himal, peak 29 and Himalchuli. Culturally rich, the region is mostly inhabitant by Gurungs and Magars ethnic people. However the inhabitants of the upper Buri Gandaki (Nupri) are direct descendents of Tibetans. The upper section widely under Tibetan influence is full of mysteries. Ancient monasteries, traditional villages, religious ceremonies and local culture dates remote history.
